It is only my speculation that this had a very small production run, or this sculpture could be only one of a very few that have survived the past 59 years. Because of it's very heavy and solid weight, it could be that this might have been a fired clay prototype; That too is my own guess.
Fact is, I really don't know. What is certain is that this sculpture is based upon Auguste Rodin's sculpture: Rodin was born in Paris, France, in 1840. He lived until 1917 (a year before the end of WWI). He is considered to be the father of modern sculpture. Rodin's sculpture can be seen on line by searching: "L'Eternelle Idole", or Eternal Idol (in English) by Auguste Rodin. You will note that the Austin Production's sculpture is not identical to Rodin's, but it has been quite faithful to the original, with enough artistic license exercised to make it their own. Auguste Rodin's original sculpture was part of a series titled, The Gates of Hell. As stated in the condition's section, this sculpture is in excellent condition.
