Beautiful Rare SERAFIN MARSAL Clay Sculpture SEATED COUPLE
Antique Terra Cotta / Clay piece of art and South American cultural history created in the early 20th century by the celebrated Spanish-born artist Serafin Marsal, Seated Couple in conversation. The man holds a guitar and she is offering him a cup of tereré from that teapot. Serafin Marsal (1862 -1956) was a Spanish born Paraguayan sculptor teaching and working in Asuncion Paraguay from the turn of the Century till his death in 1956. Signed: "PARAGUAY - MARSAL" on the back side. Front title: "Neina Che' Yvotymi". Tall 6 1/8 15,5 cms. Base 5 3/4" x 2 3/4" 14,5 x 7 cms. The paint has waste, the Yerba Mate drinking bulb is missing and the men hat has two chips, marked in pictures. We took detailed pictures, please observe them attentively.
