This pair of Mid-Century Modern busts was sculpted by the artist, Fred Press, in the 1950s. The subjects are modeled after Degas' ballerina paintings.
Both extremely expressive busts are a conversation piece for any room! They both stand at 8.5" tall and 7" at the widest point. Fred Press's signature is stamped at the base. Both pieces are in very good vintage condition, with wear consistent with age. One ballerina bust has a indentation below the eye.Covered by the patina, it seems to be an imperfection in the mold. This can be seen in the pictures.
