Our client's terracotta sculpture in the neoclassical style depicts a semi-nude maiden or goddess at the bow of a stylized gondola boat with putti clinging to the side. 22 inches tall, 21.5 inches wide and 8.5 inches deep. One of the finest terracotta sculptures we have handled in our 21 years in business. Our client has this sculpture for sale in their New York City gallery.
He was the younger brother of the painter Jules Chéret. From 1887 onwards he was a member of the artistic management of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.
