Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Vintage Clay Sculpture Acrobat Trapeze Art Terracotta Working Study Zuniga Style. DESCRIPTION Vintage clay sculpture of an acrobat, trapeze artist or clown. Sculpted by hand from terracotta clay this piece was most likely a study for a bronze casting. Not signed anywhere this piece is an accomplished sculpture which captures a trapeze artist or acrobat as they limber up.
The relaxed expression on the face suggests that they are unaware that they are being observed. The relaxed pose they are in shows strength and flexibility as they casually stretch their long limbs which is further exaggerated by the large neck.
Although unsigned it does have the appearance of a Francisco Zuniga working study. Zuniga was almost blind at the end of his life and worked mainly in terracotta. A perfect addition to your California art home decor or a fabulous housewarming gift idea.
This would make a great addition to any vintage bronze sculpture collection or a great birthday gift. MEASUREMENTS The sculpture measures 18" tall by 6" deep by 9 wide and weighs 14lb 13oz. CONDITION The sculpture is in nice condition considering age and use - please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description.Yesteryear Essentials is a local, independent family run antiques store in Los Angeles, CA.
